Hamilton Sterling Silver Tea Set by Tiffany & Co
This 7-piece 233 troy ounce sterling tea service
is characteristic of the art deco movement of the 1930’s and
1940’s. Designers from the art deco period celebrated the
successes of the industrial and machine ages by marrying design
rigidity and classical forms. The result is a sculpture that resembles
a stack of geometrical shapes, accented with straight lines.

Tiffany and Co.’s Hamilton tea set is itself
a work of art deco sculpture. The rectilinear handles are accented
with black insulators, used to keep the handles of each piece cool.
The set weighs 233 troy ounces. Although this tea set was designed
independently of an accompanying flatware pattern, Replacements
offers pieces in a number of patterns by Tiffany & Co. produced
in the art deco form. These patterns include Gramercy
(1934), Century (1937),
and Reeded Edge (1937).
The Tiffany name has always been associated with quality
American sterling, jewelry, and home décor. Tiffany & Co. was the first
American firm to be recognized abroad for their sterling craftsmanship. Today,
pieces are displayed in the Louvre museum in Paris, the Boston Museum of Art,
and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. From the White House china
and tea service to the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl Trophy, Tiffany & Co. remains
an American tradition.
