Start with the tree. Christmas trees come in a variety
of shapes, sizes, and designs. Some people say they don’t have room for
a Christmas tree but we have a few creative solutions to ensure that you have
at least one in your home. A great space saver is to suspend your tree from the
ceiling. The bottom of the tree lies flush with the ceiling and the tip of the
tree is off the floor.
“Pencil trees” are the newest space saving
holiday accents. These gorgeous trees have small footprints, stand tall, and
taper very quickly towards the top.
Tabletop trees also have small footprints. These small
trees can do double duty by adding flair to your holiday décor and being
used as the centerpiece on your holiday table.
Consider coming up with a theme for your Christmas
tree. A few examples are a “Piedmont Italian” tree decorated with
grapes, baby’s breath,
crystal ornaments, clear lights, and small wine bottles. Is someone in your house
a fan of "Dora the Explorer" or "Spongebob" Squarepants? Why not use your children’s
toys to create a memorable and fun holiday tree of their favorite shows and movies.
Another great tree idea is take inspiration from nature. Bird ornaments can be
found almost anywhere, including Replacements, Ltd. Why not decorate your tree
in a bird theme, using bird ornaments, that bird’s nest you found over
the summer, and twigs from around your yard.
Set the tone for the season using colored glass ornaments in serving bowls
and on platters.
Fill tall crystal clear vases with brightly colored citrus fruits and water.
Light dances off the water surface to create sparkle and the bright colors add
cheer to your home.
Set your buffet using memorable holiday patterns like
Spode’s Christmas
Tree, Spode’s Christmas Rose, or Lenox’s Holiday. These patterns
have always been staples of the Christmas season.
Inexpensive stockings can be found almost anywhere
during the Christmas season. Using glue, glitter, and a little creative technique,
make “place cards” for
your Christmas table by putting the names of each of your guests on stockings.
You can place the stockings at each place setting or hang them from the backs
of chairs. This is a great project for children!
Christmas is definitely a time for “sparkle” and “glow.” Nothing
sparkles like sterling silver, silverplate, stainless, and pewter hollowware.
If you have pieces of hollowware, clean them off and use them throughout the
holiday season. If you don’t have a selection of hollowware pieces, Replacements,
Ltd. carries more than 30,000 flatware patterns that
includes a selection of more than 2,000,000 pieces.
