Replacements, Ltd. extends exhibit of historic Battleship Silver
GREENSBORO, N.C., May 18, 2007 – As
the time to honor those who served our country approaches with Memorial Day, Replacements,
Ltd. is thrilled to announce its exhibit of historic Battleship Silver will be
extended through March 2008.
“We’re truly honored that the Battleship North Carolina chose
us to display their silver in our museum,” says Replacements, Ltd.’s
showroom/museum manager Keith Winkler. “Not only are these beautiful,
one of a kind pieces, the setting is also a monument to the thousands of North
Carolinians from each of the armed services who gave their lives in service to
their country.”
The North Carolina General Assembly commissioned the
silver service in 1907 to use on the original U.S.S. North Carolina. The intricate
100 piece set served officers on board the Armored Cruiser North Carolina from
1908-1920, the U.S.S. Raleigh from 1928-1930, and the Battleship North Carolina
from 1941 until 1947. The
setting consists of five different sterling silver services for tea, water, wine,
punch, and cigars, and features the North Carolina State Seal and engravings
of the state capital.
Replacements, Ltd.’s museum is open daily from 9 a.m.
to 7 p.m. and is conveniently located between Greensboro and Burlington, NC,
at exit 132 off Interstate
85/40.
