This month, we’ve found another fun and unique feature in Narcissus by 222 Fifth. This great pattern, designed by renowned artist Cheri Blum, features a parchment colored background and a border of lush daffodils (also know as Narcissus) on a smooth rim shape, with vibrant green trim.  These are great pieces for spring and summer.  Pick up four place settings to set great brunches and early evening informal meals.  The use of daffodils in this design is interesting.  Daffodils, also known as the Narcissus plant, take their name from a young hero from the ancient province of Thespiae, Greece. Although there are many versions of the myth, the one most common is that Narcissus was so consumed with his own beauty that the gods cursed him by causing him to waste away his life. One day, while walking beside a pool, the youth became enamored with his own image. As a result, he spent his life staring at himself in a pool of water. Whenever he reached for his reflection, his image disappeared. Befuddled, he would stare at the pool until his reflection returned. Many varieties of daffodils have blooms that point downward like the youth looking into his reflection, hence the adaptation of the Narcissus name for the flowers.  Start below to browse a great selection of pieces in a very neat pattern!
