Carla grew up in the antiques business in Maine, acquiring her love for silver from her mother, an avid collector and dealer.  Carla has been with Replacements, Ltd. for more than 8 years and is a frequent contributor to our publication, Silver Magazine.

Her talk, “What’s Old Is New: Using Antique Silver in a Modern World,” describes how significantly dining and entertaining have changed over the past 100 years. “I always remind people,” Carla says, “ice tongs are not just movie props!”  Carla will describe ways in which antiquated pieces can be used today – asparagus tongs for serving hot dogs at a cookout, master butter spreaders for serving cream cheese and bagels, and if your doctor’s told you no more gravy because of cholesterol?  Use that ladle the next time you have a big salad (to serve your famous low-calorie Asian Ginger salad dressing, of course).  Beautiful examples of antique silver serving pieces will be on display.  Carla will describe their original use, and what a modern “twist” for a new use might be.  Put this event on your calendar, and join us in our Showroom on Saturday, June 21, at 2:00pm!
