Glass Study Group - June 12, 2003
Glass
Club for June had as a mini-focus glass made by Paden City Glass (spoken Pay-din
- long A sound). The company operated from 1916-1951 with as many as 300 employees
at times. Paden City etched glassware of the 1930-40s is some of today's most
desirable and current market prices reflect this. Colors made at Paden City included:
amber, blue (light), Cheriglo (pink), Copen Blue, crystal, ebony, forest green,
green (light), Mulberry (amethyst), opal or milk glass, primrose (dusty pink),
royal/cobalt blue, ruby, teal and yellow.
Other glass shared included Victorian oil
lamps, a black satin console set with gold decoration by Wheeling Decorating Co.,
a Pairpoint ruby compote with crystal controlled bubble stem and several nice
pieces of Imperial glass. An additional 30 plus pieces of glass were shared.
Shown in the image is Party Line green cup, Penny line ruby goblet, Cupid etch
on Archaic Line green plate, Comet blue sugar bowl, Party Line amber Goblet and
Spring Orchard etch on crystal wine.
