Replacements, Ltd.
Featured Pet - December 2003
This
holiday season, we feature a neat Replacements pet (and owners!) Charlene Singletary
and West Cooper have been affianced to each other for two years. Both are part
of the Replacements team, and each day they bring to work with them their black
lab, Montana.
Montana is now five years old. He was given to West and Charlene
by a coworker when he was five weeks old. Montana was born the runt of the litter,
but now weighs 90 pounds. After Charlene and West brought Montana home, he quickly
displayed an affinity for tennis balls and sticks. Charlene notes that she often
finds West and Montana wrestling with each other.
Charlene notes that she and Montana formed an especially
close bond when she injured her eye once. Due to the accident, Charlene was unable
to see. Montana realized that something was wrong and went immediately to Charlene’s
side. Montana then led Charlene back to the house where she was able to call for
help. Montana refused to leave Charlene’s side until her family arrived
to help.
Bringing Montana to work each day has forged an even stronger
bond between he and Charlene. Montana is a graduate of obedience school, and provides
wonderful company throughout the day. Charlene and West take Montana out for walks
each day during breaks and lunch, and Charlene has commented that having Montana
at work with her is a great reducer of stress. “Hugging Montana is like
hugging my favorite teddy bear as a child – he just makes me feel better!”
Charlene says that were it not for Replacements’ pet
friendly policy she would not have Montana today. “At the time that we accepted
Montana, we lived in a one bedroom apartment. This apartment was just too small
to leave him there all day. We would not have been able to accept Montana had
it not been for Replacements’ pet friendly policy.” Charlene, West,
and Montana are obviously very lucky to have each other, night and day!
